Loews Hotels Introduces Room Reservations Via Twitter

In a revolutionary move, Loews Hotels is the first company to introduce room reservations via Twitter. According to a PhoCusWright’s study, 34% of hotel room revenue comes from online and mobile bookings, so Loews Hotels Social Booking will take this online booking process a step further. Consumers can contact Loews Hotels using the handle @Loews_Hotels and hashtag “#BookLoews” to reach a Loews Travel Planner. The Loews Travel Planner then Tweets a link to a chat via WebsiteAlive where you can book a room at 16 of their 19 properties around the country.

Piper Stevens, Director of Social Media for Loews Hotels, explains: “We initially saw a lot of consumer activity to point them in the right direction of how to make a reservation, and we thought we could connect the dots for them and do so through social media.” Leveraging social media requests for hotel information and turning them into paying clients is certainly a smart way to increase revenue, but is it worth the time and resources? We will have to wait and see…
