Panasonic Avionics struck a deal with MediaShift that will allow the advertising company to create targeted ads for on-board customers that are delivered both to entertainment systems and users’ PEDs using the airline’s Wi-Fi.
Airlines currently using Panasonic Avionics, an in-flight entertainment system, include United and Singapore Airlines, among others. Regular ads will appear momentarily and will then be swapped out for a targeted ad via MediaShift. Expected advertisers include travel destinations, financial services, clothing, entertainment and travel-related brands. Airlines will benefit monetarily from advertisers in exchange for serving the ads to customers.
